Gary Washburn (Minister) and Beth Washburn
Pastor Gary and Beth Washburn came to PFCC on January 1, 2005. They are both preacher's kids who met, fell in love, and married in Bible college. After pastoring in the Midwest and Great Lakes states for many years, Gary and Beth migrated to Nor Cal in 2002 to be nearer their three children and three grandchildren.
Gary holds a Bachelors Degree (70) from Central Christian College, Moberly, Missouri, and took graduate studies (86-88) at the Cincinnati Bible Seminary. He is also a financial advisor (NASD Series 7, 63, 66) and operates the Nor Cal office of Financial Resources Tax Financial Consulting Services of Troy, MI.
Beth also attended Central Christian College. She has twenty years experience in Customer Service, and serves as the Receptionist with Select Property Management in Cameron Park.
Gary is a diligent student of the Bible and is happiest when he is preaching or teaching the Word. He relaxes with an occasional round of golf, daily walks with his Hungarian Pointer, Samson of Fairview, and reading history and historical novels. Beth is also an avid reader, but her greatest joy is playing and babysitting with her three grandchildren in El Dorado Hills. Gary and Beth are residents of Cameron Park.
Linda Swystun - Secretary/Youth Director
I came to Placerville First Christian the summer of 1993. Before PFCC I was a member of Valley View Christian Church in Dallas Texas and was active in choir and in the Women’s Ministries. As a child my parents attended Los Gatos Christian Church. My mother was a youth director there, who graduated from San Jose Bible College. My father also attended the college, but was called back into the U.S. Army during WW2. I accepted Christ at age 7 and was baptized. That same year my mother took sick and for two years my sister and I lived with different families from the church. When we were all a family again nothing was the same. My mom was partly paralyzed, which effected her walking, fingers, and speech some what. We, girls pretty much had to take care of our selves. It was at this point in my life that Jesus became really real, and a great friend.
After High School I attended Ozark Bible College, in Joplin, MO for two years. I also attended San Jose Bible College and San Jose City College for classes in the young childhood. Later I attended West Valley College. As a young mother of three sons, Saundra and I organized a preschool program for about 100 children at LGCC. I worked eighteen years in the semiconductor business, and enjoyed it quite a lot. I started at the bottom and held positions as an Engineer Technician, Fabrication Supervisor and a Training Manager. Nothing is more important that for our kids, and grandkids to know and trust Jesus.
I especially love working with the children at PFCC. Each one is such a precious person in God’s eyes. I enjoys attending youth outings, working at Heavenly Hills Christian Camps (the camp system I grew up in), and Vacation Bible School. The best part of working with kids is sharing God’s Word with them. My greatest joy is seeing them coming to a knowledge Christ, and accepting His love and grace. My Prayer for them is that they too know what a life line Christ can be to them. In 1993 I lost my middle Son Brian in a helicopter accident. During that time I never once didn’t feel God’s arms around me telling me that Brian was with Him. I knew that from birth Brian knew who to call upon at a time like that, and I knew that when he did he would be head and taken home. I want this same peace for the kids at PFCC.
My husband, Gene and I looked all over the U.S. before settling here in Placerville, which we think is perfect for us. We enjoy our five grandchildren, and family visiting a great deal. I also enjoy, when I have time, gardening, crafts, reading about history, and crafts. We have both traveled at lot and hope to do a lot more in the future.
